Thomas' Return Sparks First Win

In a situation where every game matters for the Bobcats, they needed to make sure they walked away with a win during their first game of the second semester. Playing against a second place Bridgewater State team, the 'Cats had to respond to the challenge. Sean Thomas '14 stepped up and netted both goals in his first game of the season as Bates went on to win 2-1.

After a first period where the Bobcats dominated in shots, Bridgewater was able to take a 1-0 lead into the second by scoring with under ten seconds left. The 'Cats responded on the powerplay on a flawless break where Thomas was able to spilt the d and put it tough shelf sending a celebrating Chris DeBrase '14 into his arms. DeBrase added, "we made sure we worked on the powerplay and the break out a little more this week. Our unit was at practice early and stayed late until we figured it out." Thomas added his second goal on an unassisted effort as he put it away on his backhand.

Senior goaltender Joe Dell'ario was spectacular between the pipes in notching his first win of the year. Several clutch stops were made as the 'Cats had to kill off a too many men on the ice penalty during the final two minutes of the game. Ty Slivey '14 also played very well on the point with several big hits. Silvey stated after the game "all 4 lines and Dell played well. our first true team effort of the year and felt great to get that W."
