Garrett Kopeski '11, playing in just his second game of the season since going abroad in the first semester, opened the scoring for Bates with his first goal of the year late in the first period. Cam Chaput '12 won the faceoff back on the powerplay to Kopeski, who was waiting on the point. Kopeski wasted no time in firing a wrist shot that found it's way into the net through a screen just seconds into the man-advantage. The goal evened the score at 1-1 and the score remained the same until the second period.
Wes Chaput '10 gave Bates a lead early in the second period with a goal, his team-leading 15th of the season. Later in the second period, Kopeski struck again with a wicked snipe into the top right corner with the help of Miles Davee '11 and Cam Chaput. With just 51 seconds left on the clock in the second period, the Huskies halted Bates' steady play to cut the deficit to 3-2.
Northeastern came out buzzing in the final period, scoring three powerplay goals in the first 5:46 of the third period to take a commanding 5-3 lead. Six minutes later, the Huskies struck a sixth and final time to extend their lead to three. The gap proved to be too much for the Bobcats to overcome, but Bates didn't go down without a fight.
Charley Stern '13 scored an unassisted goal with 2:58 remaining in the game to make it 6-4, but it was too little too late as Bates lost a battle against the clock.
Joe Dell'Erario '13 was in net for the Bobcats and helped to keep the Bobcats competitive, but the defense had no solution to the Huskies' onslaught in the third period as Northeastern's powerplay unit struck three times in a span of 3:07 on three separate man-advantages.
