Bobcats drop second game at Sacred Heart, lose 6-3

On Saturday, November 13, Bates faced off against Sacred Heart for the second time in as many days. Bates fell into an early hole when they allowed two early goals. However, sophomore Charley Stern brought the Bobcats to within one with his first of the year. Matt Ohlheiser chipped in with his team-leading third assist on the goal and Garrett Kopeski also picked up his first assist on the season.

After clawing their way back into the game, Bates allowed two more goals to fall behind 4-1 at the end of the first period. Super sophomore sensation Andre Gobbo stunned and shocked the stands by scoring his first career goal midway through the second to bring the game within striking distance at 4-2.

Sacred Heart continued to pile it on by adding a fifth goal in the closing minutes of the second period and then a sixth goal with just a few minutes remaining in regulation.

Gobbo, a sniper from Chesterfield, NH, found the back of the twine with just over two minutes to go to bring the score to its finally resting spot at 6-3. Gobbo is now tied for the team lead in goals with first year Sean Thomas, who recorded an assist on Gobbo's first.

An unidentified source claimed, "Gobbo may be the most natural scorer the NECHA has seen in decades. His combination of height, shoe size, reach, and rowing ability is unprecedented in this league."

When asked if Gobbo has a legitimate shot at leading the league in scoring our source responded, "I'm not here to say he can't do it. Look at his track record. Zero goals in 12 games last year and two goals in three games this year. Clearly, he's due for more. The league hasn't seen a player in his physical condition since famous 1994 Swedish steroid scandal."

Senior alternate captain Joe Doody started in net for the Bobcats.
