Bates played host to New Hampshire in their home opener on Friday night. Charley Stern wasted no time in getting the scoring started as he streaked down the left flank with the puck and scored on his first shift of the game. After a New Hampshire equalizer midway through the first, Bates regained control of the game in powerful fashion.
On Saturday, November 13, Bates faced off against Sacred Heart for the second time in as many days. Bates fell into an early hole when they allowed two early goals. However, sophomore Charley Stern brought the Bobcats to within one with his first of the year. Matt Ohlheiser chipped in with his team-leading third assist on the goal and Garrett Kopeski also picked up his first assist on the season.
The Bobcats opened conference play with a game on Friday, November 12 at Sacred Heart. First year Sean Thomas opened the scoring with a short handed goal for his first career goal as a Bobcat. After Sacred Heart answered with a goal of their own, Thomas struck again in the second period to give Bates the lead back. Unconfirmed reports are surfacing that Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke is looking to sign the Mississauga, ON native to a deal once the Leafs can move Tomas Kaberle to create some cap space.

Although the report is unconfirmed, a reliable source has indicated that Quenzel is being lauded for his exquisite selection in pants. The next edition of the Bates Student newspaper will go to press on Tuesday, October 5, and should include a feature on the young star. Quenzel, a sophomore defenseman from West Hartford, Connecticut, scored one goal and added five assists in his freshman campaign.
